Story Behind the Brand

Hello, I’m Georgia — the founder and face behind the brand. With a background in printed textiles, Coconut Palm was born in late-2020, when my love for sewing became a form of therapy after the loss of my mum.

This business is her legacy. She taught me to sew at 15, a skill passed down through generations of women before her.

When I was learning, she would often encourage me to practise using scraps and offcuts rather than larger pieces of fabric. Over time, I realised those “test” pieces were often big enough to become something meaningful — something worth keeping, or even selling. That’s where the idea began: creating pieces that are either one-of-a-kind or thoughtfully made in small, intentional sets.

The use of bright African printed fabrics comes from a simple belief — that surrounding yourself with vivid colour can bring a sense of joy and escapism, especially on dull days. For me, they echo the warmth of Caribbean sunshine, while also allowing the prints to speak for themselves.

A sustainable blend of cultures, stories, and purpose.
